Man arrested on suspicion of pretending to be a barrister

An alleged imposter was arrested for impersonating a barrister at Calderdale Magistrates Court."

Court legal clerk Sandra Kerr became suspicious after talking to a smartly dressed man who spent the morning in Court One. He reportedly introduced himself to staff as Mr Zubah and said he came from chambers in London. He talked to solicitors and waited for a defendant he claimed to represent to be bought from the cells.

The "client", 28-year-old Adnan Farooq, of Manchester, was called before magistrates after the arrest to face charges of driving with no insurance. Prosecution, told the court Mr Farooq had been arrested on a warrant after skipping an earlier hearing in by pretending to be dead.

The duty solicitor who represented Farooq, asked to adjourn the case, Farooq was released on conditional bail.
