Former addict advises experts
A Scottish mother who has fought addiction to everything from alcohol to illegal drugs from the age of 12, will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with politicians and medical experts today as part of the Edinburgh Conference on Drugs at the Corn Exchange.
Claire Curran, who little more than a year ago was addicted to a range of substances is to chair a major conference on drugs. With the help of an NHS Lothian recovery programme, she shook the habits for good and will advise experts on the best way to help people beat addiction.
Last year, she entered into the Lothians and Edinburgh Abstinence Programme (LEAP), graduating in November, and has now become clean and has her life back on track.
At the age of 34, she and her children have moved into a new home, and she is now spending her time helping others recover.
