Troops returning with hearing loss

Garrret Spring, a specialist in personal injury with Manchester law firm, Pannone LLP has endorsed information from the Royal British Legion which tells of the increasing number of troops returning from Afghanistan suffering from hearing loss.

The RBL has said it has dealt with 1,195 claims for hearing loss over the past three years and Garret Spring says he fully expects this figure to rise significantly as the conflict continues. He commented, “Soldiers are returning from Afghanistan suffering from severe and permanent damage to their hearing due to the incredible noise of heavy combat. Burst eardrums, tinnitus and even total deafness have been reported and the men and women suffering these injuries are entitled to appropriate compensation.”

Mr Spring urges troops returning to the UK who may have suffered hearing loss injuries to first and foremost seek expert medical advice and subsequently to speak to a specialist solicitor.
